Jutting out into the ocean at the edge of Southern Shores and Kitty Hawk, the Kitty Hawk Pier has a deep history on the Outer Banks since it was constructed in 1953. The pier was badly damaged by Hurricane Isabel in 2003, but was re-opened after being purchased by adjacent Hilton Garden Inn and completely renovated. The pier is open to the public for fishing, and The Pier House, which has been restored to resemble an upscale version of a historic Kitty Hawk beach box, can be booked for private weddings and events through the Hilton.
