Modern Coastal Cookery is located in Kill Devil Hills, but their personal chef services can be enjoyed whether you’re staying up in Corolla or all the way down in Nags Head. Virginia Miller, owner and chef, is a delight to be around and an amazing chef to boot. Modern Coastal Cookery offers personal chef services, adult and kids cooking classes, and a culinary summer camp. Their space is also available to rent should you be looking for a spot to host a baby shower, birthday party, staff appreciation dinner, and more!

“With an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients, my culinary staff and I specialize in personal chef services that are prepared on-site at vacation rentals from Corolla to Nags Head. Our goal is to provide guests with a customized menu that allows them to enjoy being together in their vacation rental, making memories, and eating delicious food, while not having to cook, clean or wait in line to eat at a restaurant. From Chef’s Tasting Menus to classic Outer Banks seafood feasts, we create menus that suit all palettes.
Our kitchen, located in Kill Devil Hills, is designed to host cooking classes, and I love sharing my passion for food with others. Make your own pasta, create your own poke bowl or make pad thai from scratch are just a few of the classes that I have taught. Each of my classes includes everything needed to make a flavorful dinner. Visitors can also schedule private classes for their entire group!
In 2023 our Summer Camp Culinary was a huge hit! Between our kid’s camps and classes, we teach children fundamental knife skills, baking principles, nutritional information, and of course how to make tasty food! Our kids’ summer camps and classes are for residents and visitors- the perfect rainy-day activity!
Our space is also available to rent! If they want to celebrate a special occasion while on vacation, they can host their event in our space. We host baby showers, birthday parties, family reunion meals, and more.”
